You are Here

You are Here

By Rachel S.
Lord, I look for you here.
This world is so crazy!
I’m tired of swimming.
Tired of trying so hard to survive.

So, Lord I will seek you.
When life comes crashing over me.
When the world seems so dark,
I will look for you.

I will search for you,
When the thunder roars.
When the trials of life soar,
I will seek your face.

When I’m tired and when I’m weak,
I will take time and be still.
I’ll look for you—
And not in the comforts of this world.

The world tries so hard to turn my gaze.
It tugs and pulls at me.
I don’t know what to do.
It’s hard to keep my eyes on you!

Lord, be my anchor.
Keep my eyes above these perilous waves.
Be my rock,
My hope of salvation.

I will continue to look for you.
You are hope.
I will trust in your unfailing life.
I will believe that you are in control.

Pour out your presents
Let it rain upon us.
Let your power and strength,
Overwhelm and surround us.

Be my lifeline.
Be my hope in a dark world,
Be my source of joy.
Be my peace.

I lift my hands to you!
My King and Redeemer.
My Everlasting Lord,
My All in All.

You are here in the chaos,
You are here in the noise.
You are here in times of turmoil.
You are here.

I Wish I was a Turtle

I wish I was a Turtle

By Rachel S.
I wish I was a turtle.
Who could live in the same shell forever.
“Who needs to see me!” a turtle would say.
“I live in a shell! I don’t even exist.”

Turtles have all the luck.
They have something to hide under.
And when they hide its okay.
Because turtles where just born to hide.

When turtles hide,
It’s normal for turtles.
It’s just what they do.

Turtles always think happy thoughts.
“Oh my!” they think.
“Bubbles and rainbows. Perhaps a bit of lettuce”
That’s all they can think about.

When I hide it looks funny…
Not at all like when turtles hide.
And I never think about lettuce.
(That’s just weird.)

I wish I could live under a shell.
I wish I could hide whenever I wanted to.
Life would just be easier that way.

But I wasn’t created a turtle.
Which is so sad, I know.
I was made a human.
And that’s all. Just a human…

You see, I can’t hide.
Which must make me a warrior.
Because warriors can’t hide.
They have to always stand strong.

A good warrior knows how to conquer the world.
How to be strong and courageous
How to lead, and doesn’t know how to fear.

And I’m not a warrior.
And I don’t think I’m a turtle
That must make me something else.
(So profound. I know.)

Perhaps I’m a princess.
Or maybe a philosopher.
Maybe a poet…
No. Not that at all.

And then an identity crisis sets in.
I’m not strong like a warrior, nor gracefully like a princess…
Then what am I?

Perhaps then I am a learning adventurer.
Perhaps then I am child of the King.
Perhaps then I am a peculiar treasure of God.
Yes… yes… that’s what I am.

Not a turtle
(Because God didn’t make me one of those.)
But someone who can lift up their eyes up to the Creator of the world.
Someone who can believe that they were created for a purpose.

Because that’s me.
Maybe not a strong and mighty warrior yet,
But defiantly created for a purpose.
And defiantly not a turtle.

The Future, By Rachel S.

The Future

By Rachel S.

I don’t know what my future will hold.
I don’t know if I’ll move or if I’ll stay.

I’m just a kid with dreams so bold,
I’m young and I’m so flawed.

I’m scared if what might happen,
What if I make a mistake??

Will the whole world explode if I slip and fall??

Then the still small voice of truth washes over me.
“I will direct your paths.”

My paths will be directed.
He has his hand upon my life.

If I mess up, he is still there for me.
If I walk through a dark valley, he will still be there for me.

When I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
He will still be there with me.

So I will not fear.
Because he is with me both now and forevermore.
