Dear
By Rachel V.
I love to watch your face at night,
To know that you will face the light,
With me by your side dear.
I love to hear your voice while I,
Count the stars, and silently sigh,
But tell myself that all will be well,
As long as you keep talking dear.
I love to hear about your day,
To hear about whom you praise,
And all about your plans, my dear.
As long as you are with me, dear,
As long as you are near me, dear,
As long as you will be my treasure, dear,
All will be well.

My Dearest Friend
My Dearest Friend
By Rachel V.
My dearest Friend in all the world,
Is the One I do adore.
He’s comfort ‘midst of sorrow,
He’s joy and peace’s door.
My dearest Friend in all the world
Is someone I can trust.
He listens to my every plea,
And guides me when I’m lost.
My dearest Friend in all the world
In Him do I confide
All that my life is worth,
And all my dreams and sighs.
My dearest Friend in all the world
Can be your dearest too.
He died so all that trust in Him
Can see that Heaven’s true.
So don’t wait till you die,
Or save it for the last.
Put your hope in Jesus,
And you never will look back!

Praise God
Praise God!
By Rachel V.
With all my heart I praise you.
With all my love I adore you.
I’ll lift up my voice unto you name,
Saying “Hallelujah! God is the same!”
He is the LORD of all,
And the God of me.
So through His I will praise thee.

Standing out for Jesus
Standing out for Jesus
By Rachel V.
Slowly she walked down the hall.
Unaware,
Unaware of the gossip and lies,
Ignorant of the people looking at her,
And whispering about her.
“Look at her hair” they say.
“Look how she walks so afraid.”
“Look how she dresses. She’s so modest.”
“Why can’t she dress like us, act like us; with makeup and
fashion and fuss?”
“What’s the deal with dresses and skirts?”
“She goes so crazy for that thing she calls church.”
She didn’t notice the looks of disgust,
The pointing of fingers,
The hearts of mistrust.
She didn’t see the glares and the pokes.
Just for not going along with their jokes.
One day her friend named Charity,
Told her what you have been seeing.
“They hate you!” she said, “It’s hardly fair!
To them you’re only the dust in the air!”
But Faith (for that was her name),
Smiled, and said,
“I don’t keep grudges, I hold up God’s name.
This is like what God had in mind, when He said,
“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in
man.”
For He knew we wouldn’t obey His word,
And we would end up following the world.”
“Well I know that they scoff,
And they easily scorn.
But I have chosen to follow the Lord.
With Him it is harder.
It’s true as can be.
But with him I can live for eternity.”
And with that,
She smiled, and said adieu.
And she left an example for me and for you.
Don’t be afraid to stand out for what’s true.

Hope
Hope
By Rachel V.
Like a glimmer on the ocean,
From the setting sun,
Hope rises anew
When all goodness seems to be
gone.
Like the stars that give light,
To a black, hopeless night,
Hope shows us that God’s love
is not done.
Like a whisper in the trees,
From a soft summer breeze,
Or a ripple on a lake,
When the day has just begun.
Hope spreads forth her hands.
She is a gift from God.
