Hope Endures

A light that burns with all its might
Buried deeply--hidden inside
A flame--a wisp--a flickering fight
A symbol that has never died
Though Cancer may try to seize and kill
It fights back with all its will
Though fire destroys all but life
It cuts through, masking the strife
A timeless key that helps unlock
That hides the dread--absorbs the shock
Though life maims and tames and lures
Hope waits inside Hope endures
